Chemical analysis
Traditional testing methods such as titration, potentiometry and gravimetry are used in chemical analysis for the purpose of sample characterization. In conventional “wet chemical analysis”, we test foodstuffs to verify compliance with legal limits, such as fat-content levels in accordance with the Cheese Processing Regulation, nitrate concentrations in accordance with the Drinking Water Regulation and water substance content, to which regulations apply in the production of coffee and honey, for example. From volatile oils in spices and fluoride in toothpaste to colourfastness in paper napkins and raw protein content in cat food – chemical analysis is devoted to the fundamental purpose of testing and assessing foodstuffs, cosmetics, animal feed and consumer goods.
